The famous dinner and a movie date, while classic and convenient, is a go-to outing that seems to be getting a little tiring. Though this type of date has an already established and recognized value in the world of dating, dinner and a movie is not the only type of outing for all you love birds out there. There’s always other activities like bowling or skating, but lets be real, some of us lack the proper coordination skills necessary to accomplish some of these more active tasks. Others, such as myself, are just sore losers, and don’t want to participate in activities we know we wont be successful in. There’s also the group of individuals who are just down bad at the moment and don’t have the money to go above and beyond for a date. So, if you are looking for some simple, unique, “cost-efficient” dates to go on with your significant other, read on.
Enjoy the outdoors with a picnic
I have heard some guys say that picnics are too romantic, or even lame. However, an outing like this is one that a girl will really appreciate and remember. Ladies, your man does not have to spend a million dollars on you at a fancy restaurant for you to appreciate him. In fact, wouldn’t it be better to go on a small romantic picnic, than to go on a $500 date and eat foods that neither of you know the names of? Eating outside will be a serene time for the both of you, and you’ll save a ton of money by just packing your own lunch.
Learn something new at a museum
Plenty of museums are free and require zero effort to be put in by either member of the couple. The art does its work and everything else follows. A museum is a great place to converse with your significant other about creativity or whatever else makes your relationship vibe. It is a great place to explore similarities and differences, what you both do and do not like, and to learn more about each other in general. You can’t really do this at the movies. And though you can converse at a diner table, a museum gives you ground on which to base conversation, for people who are newly dating and may be in that awkward beginning stage.
One man’s trash is your treasure when you go thrifting
I don’t know about y’all but my boyfriend is not at a stage in his life where he’s buying me Gucci and Louis Vuitton purses (…yet). Go thrifting together. Take a weekend away from the mall and visit different thrift stores. Nine times out of ten the cool vintage items you find in the thrift stores will not be at your local True Religion store. Thrifting is a great way to shop with someone you’re dating without emptying everything out of your pockets.
With all this being said, I am definitely going to continue to go on movie/dinner dates with my significant other. But it doesn’t hurt to switch it up every once in a while and take a step out of your comfort zone.
