Ty Dolla $ign isn’t your typical artist or someone that fits into a specific box - his range is impeccable and his ability to jump on damn near any track and body it is what makes him a standout guy. His career has been on somewhat of a slow-start since ‘09, but he’s been lighting the industry up this year, specifically for being undefeated on his feature roll. With as many songs as he’s jumped on in 2018 alone, Ty Dolla $ign is well-deserving of being called the “hardest working man in Hollywood.”
It’s hard not to acknowledge all the work Dolla $ign has been putting in this year considering the fact that he’s been featured on a slew of Billboard Hot 100 hits. If you take a look at his track record he’s worked with the best of the best in the industry - Drake, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, and the list goes on. His comparisons to being the Nate Dogg of our generation have been very evident as both of their talents always seemed like the missing puzzle piece in Hip-Hop. Ty’s vocals on a song’s hook are easily recognizable and his knack for elevating a track from mediocre to spectacular is on account of his unique abilities.
Within the last few weeks, we’ve been hearing Ty Dolla $ign featured in a lot of new music that’s been released. From Kanye West’s newest album ye and Teyana Taylor’s sophomore album K.T.S.E. to Beyonce & Jay-Z’s collaborative project Everything Is Love and Drake’s latest release Scorpion, you can’t seem to listen to a song without hear Dolla $ign’s striking talent in some form or fashion. He’s dominated the game across genres such as rap, pop, and R&B without losing his footing. Expanding his collaborations from heavy-hitters in the game to newcomers on the scene, Ty Dolla $ign has showcased a certain kind of finesse only a few people in music can say they possess.
As a quadruple-threat in this industry (rapper, singer, writer, and producer), he’s been in dabbling in guest features as well as keeping a laser-focus on his own solo career. His grind just doesn’t quit because months after releasing his Beach House 3 album he decided to re-release an updated version of it with a couple new tracks. Right now he’s working on a joint project with fellow R&B crooner Jeremih called MihTy set to drop later this year.
He’s come a very long way since hopping on YG’s hit song “Toot It and Boot It” back in 2009. His hit-making abilities are going to benefit him in the long run for a very lengthy career in this industry. He’s not only an artist, but an influencer in this game as well which sets him apart from a lot of his peers. Going from making hits in his grandmother’s house to climbing up the Billboard Hot 100, he’s more than earned his spot as a top contender. While some are just here for today, Ty Dolla $ign has proven that he has what it takes to adjust and adapt to this forever-changing music industry.
