In high school geeks, nerds, theater kids, chess club members and A/V club students were like at as outcasts. Well I have news for you kids. Things will be much better in college. The question is: How will you outlet your nerdiness?
Some of you all weren’t able to bring your favorite game system to college. Well, that really sucks, but your friend downstairs from Massachusetts has a whole collection of Star Wars movies and a GameCube (wicked cool right?). My point is, find friends who also like nerdy things. They will be your outlet of new animes, mangas, comics, movies, etc.
Another thing that nerds should do when going to college is joining a club. You have the same clubs that you joined in high school (that I mentioned before) plus many more. This includes really fun and possibly dangerous clubs like “Humans vs Zombies”. Why is that dangerous? It is because when you have a bunch of nerds running around, running into people, stampeding Greek Life kids and hurting themselves because of their own lack of athleticism, it’ll be ugly.
At many colleges and universities, there are game rooms. Video games are a big part of college nerd culture and they have a lot of them at game rooms. Call of Duty and Naruto games are gigantic at college campuses. If you beat people in these games, you instantly become a legend among your peers. I’ve actually done this myself by beating my friends in Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Mortal Kombat X.
One last thing! You must fully embrace your nerdiness young grasshopper. If you talk to others in class about it, you will find other people that are interested in the same things that you are. It’s worth it. Every second of it. If you like those old Shaolin Kung Fu movies, or if you like 80’s music or even cheesy horror movies, embrace these things in your friendships in college. No more getting stuffed in lockers! (not that I could ever fit in one)
