Nerd Spotlight: Pokemon Golder

Today I start a new segment. It is called the Nerd Spotlight. From this point forward, I will pick a “nerdy” topic to go over each week. Just because I write a lot about sports, doesn’t necessarily mean that I have no interest in things that are a little nerdy. With that being said, let’s begin!

We always get to that weird part of the Internet sometimes, mostly accidental. However, you have people like me who actively search for things that are weird, outrageous or just downright funny. One of those things that I found while stumbling around the Interwebs was this sketch called Pokemon Golder.

If you are familiar with Pokemon at all, you would know that the Gold and Silver versions were the best games of the series, to that date. You could explore not only the brand new Johto region, but you could visit the Kanto region (the region that was first introduced in the first two Pokemon games, Red and Blue). To finish off the game, you would face off against the protagonist of the first game, who is completely silent might I add.

“Pokemon Golder” is a hilarious take on the Johto series of Pokemon games. It’s creator, Matt Barretto, also known as Matty Burrito, has a hilarious take on the game. Just think of it as a comedy sketch speed run. He pretty much sketches a bunch pop culture references into his videos. My favorite of which comes from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

His knack for finding hilarious places to insert the references makes him an absolute comedic genius. Also, he adds a bunch of funny touches like naming his rival (I won’t spoil it for you, but we all know that we’d name him a really stupid name). The action moviesque fight scenes made this series all of the more cooler.

Another thing that made the series were the voices. Nate Staana, Jean Paul Skatoonist and Alexandra Keuls provided some great voice acting. Mainly really funny and giving life to game characters who’s voices we don’t hear. The animation and sketches are on point as well, plus different.

All in all, I highly recommend his series and you can watch it below:

Last, but not least, Part 3:

Also, he has a new series in store as well. POKEMON RUBYER! It is supposed to be the next installment of the “-er” series. I doubt that he will disappoint. I mean come on, he actively gave Pokemon fans a parody that was almost exactly true to the story, while being ridiculously funny. Give his work a look everyone.

This scene is takin me forever… #Rubyer #pokemon #oras #parody #animated
