What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend (1/15)

So I’m on Netflix earlier deciding on what advice to give you, the people, on what to watch this weekend on Netflix either with your significant other, side piece, or at home by yourself this weekend in the dark if you’re just that lonely of a person. Assuming you’re familiar with Netflix (because why else would you be reading an article recommending something to watch on Netflix) you know there’s a section on the home page in which titles are suggested for you based on what you watch on Netflix already. As I’m searching Netflix, I peep this and notice the face of none other than Meek Mill.

In honor of the article soon about ESPN 30 for 30s (spoiler alert), I thought I’d share one of my favorites in “Sole Man”.

As many 30 for 30s as ESPN has, this one incorporated two of my favorite things; sneakers and sports. Sonny Vacarro was a name unknown to me going into the documentary. However, upon finishing the 77-minute film, I realized how much this man influenced everything in the area of basketball sneakers and sportswear marketing. From things that seem so minuscule as a brand’s logo on your favorite college team’s jerseys to Oregon wearing a different Nike uniform every game to even the exclusive shoes on the feet of your favorite collegiate hoopers, it all started here.

Set aside an hour of your time this weekend to give to the film, directed by Jon Weinbach and Dan Marks, to see how Nike established its billion dollar basketball industry, how Kobe Bryant landed in the hands of not only the Lakers, but as well as Adidas; how close LeBron James was to having an Adidas sneaker deal; and how it became all about the shoes with His Airness himself, Michael Jordan.

I’ll admit, I’m late on this one. BDJ here at The Demo Tape recently put me on to this show. When I first saw it premiere on Netflix, I thought to myself “why the fuck Imma watch a TV show about a talking horse? I’m grown.” However, he made me sit through one episode and I oddly enough enjoyed the show.

“BoJack Horseman” follows the post-Hollywood life of an animated horse. The former “Horsin’ Around” TV star attempts to recapture his glory days as a famous actor. We’ve all seen some or our favorite celebrities try to come back and reclaim some of their lost fame or talent, whether they be actors, athletes, or any other occupation for which one may become famous. Some of these attempts have proven to be successful, while others remain “washed up”. That is the challenge that BoJack is faced with here.

Now, no matter how great of a sales pitch I make, you yourself have to be willing to watch a show about a washed up horse trying to recapture his glory days. Give it a shot though and leave us your comments about what you thought.

Until next weekend, this what to watch on Netflix this weekend.

What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend (04/24)

For this week’s What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend, I would highly advise you to watch this series if you haven’t already. And, if you did, to watch it again. You don’t plan on doing anything this weekend anyways, hence why you’re reading this. Breaking Bad ran on AMC from 2008 to 2013 and if you have Netflix (I don’t know why you’re reading this if you don’t), thanks to the Netflix gods, you can will be watching it this weekend because you were either living under a rock when it was airing or you have nothing productive to do with your life. Or, simply because, it’s pure greatness. I’m not even going to disclose the plot, just watch. Until next week, this is What to Watch on Netflix this Weekend.
