When you first get into a relationship how do you know what to get for your significant other on that first birthday, holiday or even graduation? When I got into my current relationship, which I’ve been in for over two years now, I had to worry about a birthday gift and a graduation present just within the first three weeks. Now of course you’ve gotten to know things about your partner, it’s what got y’all into the relationship in the first place, but as far as gift giving goes it can be a whole different ball game.
From my personal experience I feel as though those first few gifts will be things out of the ordinary because you’ll go crazy trying to figure out what to get. The more time you put into a relationship the more you’ll learn about your partner so that you can start providing them with the perfect gifts.
In the beginning my boyfriend got me cute simple things like flowers, chocolates and clothes. After two years, he’s learned of my obsession with avocados so he was seriously going to buy me an avocado plant so that I can grow my own avocados. For our birthdays we do it big with gifts. My boyfriend rented out a whole apartment to throw me a little surprise party but before that we went out to eat and got drinks. For his birthday, we went to Six Flags and had a ball. His 21st is coming up though so it’s definitely going to be something I look forward to planning.
Our first Christmas together we went crazy! We bought each other sooooo many gifts. We’ve decided to try to chill out now. In reality though buying gifts for your partner can be the best thing ever. When you know they’re going to be excited for something so simple or something that may be strange to someone else it’s one of the best feelings in the world. They’ll love it and love you even more for paying attention to the stuff they love!
