What to watch on Netflix (6/23/17)
This week I have one Netflix Original and two AMC Original titles for everyone to check out.
You might remember Walter White’s shady lawyer Saul from Breaking Bad, “Better call Saul” is his spin-off. The show takes place before the events of Breaking Bad. It dives right into Saul’s background, shining the light on how he became a lawyer and how his name changed from Jimmy McGill to Saul Goodman. If you watched Breaking Bad you’ll spot plenty of Easter eggs and cameos from some of your favorite characters. The first two seasons are streaming now on Netflix.
Everyone is familiar with the Twilight Zone, but this one is for the technological age. This British television show has recently been acquired by Netflix. By uses elements of comedy, suspense, and drama, it predicts a not too far off future where in one way or another technology bends the rules of society. It could be implants that let us replay and stream our memories or a social media app that lets you rate the people you come in contact with. “Black Mirror” explores a world where integrating with technology could possibly be our downfall.
If you love a bunch of fight scenes and elegant scenery, then “Into the Badlands” is for you. Each episode is filled with martial arts and intense drama. Our two main characters wonder around in a post-apocalyptic world called the Badlands. Guns have been banned in this world so you won’t see anyone getting blasted in the streets. The story takes some time to fully understand, but once you do you won’t want to take your eyes off the screen. Only the first season is streaming, If you want to watch the second season you can head over to AMC’s official site after binge watching the first season on Netflix (Season two expires in 27 days).
