Maryland baby Aquil VCR has been putting on for the DMV since his breakout last year. Behind popular singles like “Green Roses” and “Eddie Guerrero,” Waldorf’s own has opened up for the likes of PnB Rock and co-headlined alongside names like Ugly God. Only a year into his young, blossoming career, he’s shown an uncanny ability to maneuver the competitive music scene within the DMV and create a lane of his own.
Even with his impressive resume to-date, if you get the chance to talk to him, he remains humble about what he’s been able to accomplish in a year’s time. In an interview with the The Demo Tape set to release soon, he spoke on his thought process behind the decisions he’s made as well the need for unity within the DMV. There’s not only a maturity in his sound and delivery as an artist, but there’s a “wise beyond his years” feel to what he says.
Therefore, it’s only right that he gets the chance to brag a bit on his latest offering “Free Smoke.” Although not known for covering other industry beats, Aquil tries his hand at the instrumental from Drake’s More Life and puts his own spin on it. Dropping lines of his home state and loyalty to his team, Aquil picks his flows well finding his comfort zone even on a cover song. Click the player below to listen on Spinrilla.
