Throughout the top half of the year so far, Baltimore producer Cartier Dad has gifted listeners with his series of Couture Sounds projects. Featuring production from the O.C.U.G. beat maker, the projects have ranged from a handful to a little more than a dozen instrumentals. However, for his fifth and latest installment, he switched his approach from beat tapes to constructing songs with some of the most promising young artists in the area. From Marino Gang’s MikeyTha$avage to Scumgang’s Goldie Mack and Bradd Litt, the 10-track offering has something for everybody as Cartier shows off his versatility, crafting a distinct sound each track to accompany each artist. Yung Lal impresses effortlessly on “Open Letter Freestyle” while Big Penny also delivers stellar verses on “Aesthetic.” 202 God may be the only feature from outside of Baltimore, but he shows he can hang with the rest just as he did on his project Allergy Season. The other features include Shwaze Collins, De$o, Raw, and Mes as well. Listen to ‘Couture Sounds’ below on Spotify as well as on Apple Music and Soundcloud.
