When I first interviewed Don Neil in February of 2016, he described his sound as “music to move to, and music that moves you.” Since then, he’s kept true to his word. His music is a constant reminder of the light in life, blending vulnerable lyrics about self-consciousness and aspirations with upbeat instrumentals. As he said a year ago, the lyrics move your mind, and his growing ear for beats move bodies. Today, he finally puts those same emotions into his debut EP, BREAK. The 7-track offering features previously released tracks “Be” and “I’m Weak” as well as “Nixon” and “Find Your Love.” The bouncy “Break” alongside “Talk To Me” and “God Bless” round out the EP well. As he maneuvers through the 25-minute project, he demonstrates impressive range as a young artist dealing with the highs and lows of being a growing adult. Altogether, BREAK offers something for everyone to relate to, as Don Neil continues to make that a staple of his music. Stream BREAK below on Spotify, as well as SoundCloud and Apple Music.
